Report of another burglary at the Ebola Treatment Center in Nimba County. Food donated by the World Food Programme allegedly stolen. This is the second time in less than a month unknown individuals have burglarized the Ebola Treatment Center in Nimba County warehouse and toke away food kept there for Ebola patients.
The Administrative Assistant to the Mayor of Sanniquellie, James F. Barkar, said the food, donated by the WFP, had been stored in the warehouse for some time, but suspected thieves broken into the administrative building in Sanniquellie and took away huge quantity of supplies.
Nimba County Superintendent Fong Zuagele has ordered an investigation into the matter, but no arrest has been made yet.
The World Food Programme donated about 49 tons of rice to the Ebola Treatment Center in Nimba, but report says the food was kept in the warehouse and not used for the intended purpose. The UN agency has expressed dissatisfaction about how the food is being kept distributed in the county.
About two months ago, 200 bags of rice stolen were arrested from some health workers at the G.W. Harley Hospital in Sanniquellie. The food intended for distribution in Ganta, was diverted to a business woman in Saclepea for sale. Another huge quantity of relief food went missing in Karnplay, while a recently food distribution in Saclepea turned bloody.
